2007 Newsletter
Once again we had pretty good weather for our 2006 July round-up and our September week-end! Looking back at earlier newsletters, it is interesting to note the comments on the number of new faces appearing at Court Farm.
Certainly 2006 was no exception as more and more names have been added to our mailing list. We have also seen the return of a number of ‘old faces’ who had ventured off to other venues over the years but clearly regard Court Farm as a worthy alternative. With Dawn, our own ‘resident’ DJ, and Barbara our ‘resident’ country and western singer (unjustly overshadowed by her supporting act - Danny Rivers) we have plenty of good music to compliment the bands appearing each evening. This, together with a great Saloon bar, the friendly atmosphere and the general ambience of the venue must be why so many of our friends come back year after year.
A Fishy Tail
Most of you will know Bob who did that fantastic horse ride for charity last year and most of you will know Jed (you can’t not know Jed!); well, in July Bob and Jed ended up ‘duelling’ - no, not with six shooters but with fishing rods!
They had a bet on who could land the biggest fish from the big pond. For those of you who may not be aware, and not wishing to embarrass anyone, it is sufficient to say that Jed came second. Oh, there were a few lame excuses uttered but at the end of the day, the gallant Bob accepted the challenge of a return match scheduled for July 2007.
To make it more interesting, it has been agreed to throw the challenge open to all comers - so bring your fishing gear and see if you can topple the reigning champion. It has been suggested a modest entrance fee be charged and that it should be donated to charity. A prize or trophy will be provided (courtesy of the Sheriff) for the winner.
